My first blog post... and my first time creating a website

Hello everyone! My name is Jeannie and I just created my first website so I thought I would celebrate with creating my first blog post. This website is definitely going to be a work in progress since I have never done this before and not really sure where to start... so I guess I start with introducing myself.

I am an avid crocheter who loves to create new things. My grandma taught me the basics of crocheting when I was young (I think I was about 8 or 9 years old... however old enough to stay the night at Grandma's house without your siblings with you is). I quickly turned those basic crochet stitches into cloths for my barbie dolls... creating works of art (at least that's what I thought they were when I created them) without the use of a pattern. Fast forward many years... I have learned many new crochet techniques and skills. I can follow patterns and I can create my own... as well as write them so other people can read and follow them with ease. I lost my grandma in 2006 and still miss her. I'd like to think she is looking down on me and proud of the things I have created. And I'm sure she would have enjoyed knowing I taught my niece how to crochet.

Besides crocheting and creating new patterns, I enjoy spending time with friends and family (including my two dogs), watching movies, going for road trips, and daydreaming of going on another cruise (I've been on 7 so far). Right now my current occupation is full-time crocheter / full-time job seeker... I've been unemployed since the end of May.
